The basic idea of the conceptual paper is to discuss the notion of value creation in the business and society field and to present the public value concept as a way of extending the understanding of business’s value creation for society. First, the paper draws on the value balance accountability model by Schwartz and Carroll, in which value creation is identified as a central element in the business and society field. Second, based on this, we critically evaluate the VBA model’s (...) value notion, which appears to be relatively vague and narrow. Third, in order to tackle these gaps, we present Meynhardt’s public value approach, which provides an extended notion of value creation. We further propose a combined public value-balance-accountability-framework. Public value fills the framework’s value dimension with actual content and provides a microfoundation. It helps to overcome the separation fallacy. The combined framework contributes to both theory and practice in the business and society field. (shrink)

El objetivo principal de este trabajo se basa en analizar si el graduado en turismo de las universidades públicas de la Comunidad de Madrid alcanza una formación óptima para ejercer como profesional del turismo cultural. Para ello, la metodología empleada se ha centrado en el análisis de los itinerarios formativos del grado en Turismo de las universidades públicas madrileñas y la realización de una entrevista estructurada a 20 docentes universitarios. This study explores the cultural evolution of finance through the analysis of monetary incentives and their impact on financial innovation. Through an interdisciplinary approach, it investigates how financial practices have changed due to economic and cultural pressures, and how these changes have driven new forms of innovation in global financial markets. This paper approaches the discussion that took place during the second half of the Twentieth Century about the biological significance of the cryptobiotic state. Cryptobiosis has been defined as an evolutionary strategy in which organisms overcome adverse environmental conditions by entering a latency mode considered the third state between life and death. It is a poorly known phenomenon where metabolism, growth, reproduction and senescence are greatly reduced or cease temporarily. Since metabolism is conceived as a defining feature of life, it (...) is argued that Cryptobiosis is a kind of temporal death, because metabolic activity sometimes seems to have stopped completely during the cryptobiotic state. In the following pages we deal with the cryptobiotic phase -as understood in the second half of the last Century-, considering two basic references: a case study, the case of group Tardigrada -small animals between a tenth of a millimeter and one millimeter that can survive in extreme conditions entering different states of latency-; and, secondly, the model around Cryptobiosis as recursive hierarchical metabolism proposed by Yair Neuman. Este artículo propone un enfoque erotético para definir el programa de investigación ecocrítico, analizando la interrelación entre los marcos conceptuales de la ecología y la teoría crítica literaria. Se sugiere una estructuracomún basada en agendas de problemas que enriquecen, tanto la práctica científica como la enseñanza. El objetivoprincipal es mostrar cómo la formulación de preguntas contribuye de manera significativa a la creación de agendasde problemas abiertos que guían la investigación, fomentando el desarrollo de nuevas hipótesis y promoviendo la interdisciplinariedad en (...) los programas de investigación ante los desafíos ecológicos. La metodología incluyeuna revisión de la estructura teórica de la ecocrítica y de cómo las agendas de problemas aportan flexibilidadmetodológica, permitiendo reformular preguntas a medida que surgen nuevos datos, tecnologías y enfoques. Los resultados destacan la importancia de los cuestionamientos en las ciencias ambientales para redefinir nuevas agendas de investigación, integrando marcos conceptuales no unificados por una teoría central. La ecocrítica se configura como un programa de investigación estructurado de manera erotética, al igual que la ecología. Lasconclusiones subrayan la interdependencia entre preguntas, agendas de problemas y la reflexión crítica sobre el método científico, enfatizando en la creatividad y utilidad de los cuestionamientos e hipótesis retroductivas, para una práctica científica más adecuada y ajustada a la urgencia de la crisis ecológica. En las elecciones municipales de 2015, la activista social Ada Colau conseguía la alcaldía de Barcelona. En el presente artículo exponemos y analizamos los puntos nodales que vertebran su discurso político e ideológico y lo comparamos con su discurso previo como activista, bajo el enfoque de los estudios de filosofía política sobre el discurso. En las conclusiones que se derivan de la comparación, estableceremos la evolución de su discurso.

There are individuals, including children, dying needlessly in poverty-stricken third world countries. Many of these deaths could be prevented if pharmaceutical companies provided the drugs needed to save their lives. Some believe that because pharmaceutical companies have the power to save lives, and because they can do so with little effort, they have a special obligation. I argue that there is no distinction, with respect to obligations and responsibilities, between pharmaceutical companies and other types of companies. En el campo de la Historia, la aportación de Ortega y Gasset se centró en la Teoría de las generaciones, según la cual, los cambios de época se deben a «variaciones en la sensibilidad vital», que se traducen en el cambio de generaciones: el desplazamiento de una generación vieja por una nueva. Así en la concepción de Ortega, la generación pasa a ase una «categoría histórica», el concepto fundamental de la historiología y el instrumento más eficaz del método histórico. Sin (...) embargo, eso que Ortega denomina «cambios de sensibilidad vital» no es una de las causas del desarrollo histórico sino uno de los efectos en que este se manifiesta. Del análisis del pensamiento de Ortega, se deduce que esos cambios o variaciones son la forma en que se manifiesta el cambio o variación de las Ideas, con mayúsculas. Es decir, «una variación de las ideas disueltas de cada época, que están flotando y que el individuo no as posee sino que está en ellas». Empero, a su vez, como fue enunciado por la teoría del materialismo histórico y la investigación histórica empírica ha confirmado, esas Ideas, surgen de las condiciones humanas de existencia. Es decir, de las condiciones en que el hombre realiza su actividad productiva, en función de desarrollo técnico y social y de los sucesivos problemas que tal actividad le va suscitando. (shrink)

The main aim of the present study is to identify which mental footnotes (related to Adam Smith’s Capitalism) have more weight in the current cognitive processing of participants. We used the “Wealth of Nations” as the main source of the concepts from this author. An experimental design (based on a previous qualitative research) was carried out to test the influence of mental footnotes on the citizens’ decision on the validity of the concepts. The findings point out that there are strong, (...) current, mental footnotes related to the Adam Smith’s concept of price. People mostly understand that, for every product, the entrepreneur has to recover their initial investment and to gain a profit. On the other hand, the fact that entrepreneurs have to pay some expenditures and they need to have profits determines the price of products. (shrink)

Several studies have examined victim blaming in rape scenarios. However, there is limited research on the analysis of the perception of blame when two or more perpetrators are involved. The present article explores the perception of blame in cases involving rape based on the level of resistance shown by the victim and the presence of one or more perpetrators. A study was carried out involving 351 university students who responded to a survey after reading a hypothetical assault scenario. Six situations (...) were established where the victim showed either low or high resistance, depending on whether the resistance was verbal or physical and verbal, and in the presence of one or two male perpetrators. It is expected that perpetrators are more culpable when acting in groups and that less resistance from the victim leads to greater attribution of blame. The results confirm that more blame is attributed to the perpetrators when they act in groups than when they act alone. Likewise, women consider the victim generally exerts greater resistance and this variable influences the attribution of greater blame. (shrink)

Adopting an ecological perspective on children’s functioning and psychological well-being, we investigated the association between agency and life satisfaction, and its bearing on trauma symptoms and negative emotions in a group of Bedouin children living in the occupied Palestinian territories. Specifically, we hypothesized that the more children were agentic, the more they would be satisfied with their lives; and that greater life satisfaction would be associated with reduced trauma symptoms. A sample of 286 Bedouin children attending primary schools in four (...) different villages in the Jordan Valley completed the Multidimensional Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale (MSLSS), Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale for Children (PANAS-C), Children’s Impact of Event Scale (CRIES-13), and the Children’s Hope Scale (CHS). Structural equation modelling was performed to evaluate the cumulative network of direct and indirect effects between children’s agency, life satisfaction, and trauma symptoms. The findings confirmed the key role of life satisfaction in mitigating traumatic reactions. Higher levels of life satisfaction were associated with reduced negative emotions and trauma symptoms, suggesting that agency may be viewed as a pre-determining factor with the potential to protect children from trauma symptoms. Alexithymic traits, which entail finding it difficult to recognize and describe one’s own emotions, are linked with poor trait emotional intelligence and difficulties in identifying and managing stressors. There is evidence that alexithymia may have detrimental consequences for wellbeing and health, beginning in adolescence. In this cross-sectional study, we investigated the prevalence and incidence of alexithymia in teenage girls, testing the statistical power of TEI and student burnout to discriminate between high- and low-alexithymic subjects. A sample of 884 female high (...) school students attending three Italian academic-track high schools completed self-report measures of alexithymia, school burnout, and TEI. Main descriptive statistics and correlational analysis preceded the discriminant analysis. The mean alexithymia scores suggest a high prevalence of alexithymia in female adolescents; as expected, this trait was negatively correlated with TEI and positively associated with school burnout. Participants with high vs. low alexithymia profiles were discriminated by a combination of TEI and burnout scores. High scores for the emotionality and self-control dimensions of TEI were strongly associated with membership of the low alexithymia group; high scores for the emotional exhaustion dimension of school burnout were indicative of membership of the high alexithymia group. These findings suggest crucial focuses for educational intervention: efforts to reduce the risk of emotional exhaustion and school burnout should especially concentrate on enhancing emotional awareness and self-control skills, both strongly associated with low levels of alexithymia.
